Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Louis Dreyfus Canada?
Louis Dreyfus has a 60-year presence in Canada as a major exporter of Canadian grains and oilseeds, with an extensive base of domestic and overseas customers. Louis Dreyfus' network of new high-throughput terminals across Western Canada offers direct value-added service to western Canadian producers. In May 2000, Louis Dreyfus Canada launched www.louisdreyfus.ca, the first Western Canadian website to provide online contracting for grain using real-time grain market feeds, allowing prairie producers to contract their grain with any of eleven Louis Dreyfus grain terminals.

What is different about the new terminals Louis Dreyfus is constructing?
All new Louis Dreyfus terminals and grain storage facilities are steel bin construction, rather than traditional concrete construction. When required, steel bin elevators can cut the time of new construction in half, with a terminal being ready for business within five to six months, rather than the one year or more it usually takes to build concrete elevators.

Why is Louis Dreyfus offering condo storage?
Condo storage is a cost-effective way for producers to haul direct from field to market. It's a great way to manage risk and take advantage of market opportunities - when there's a demand for grain, it's already on the rail line. Louis Dreyfus terminals have the ability to expand total capacity up to 60,000 metric tonnes, with condo storage included at time of construction or effortlessly added later. The need for condo storage at each terminal location is based on local producer demand.

Who is the parent company of Louis Dreyfus Canada?
